Building Safety
U.M. Residence Halls are locked 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Access to buildings and guest rooms is controlled through key cards. Only summer guests and authorized staff are given access to residence halls. Outside door entry is generally restricted to guests, counselors and group leaders over the age of 18. Young guests and campers are given key cards for their rooms only. Please communicate with Marketing and Conference Services regarding your needs for outside door access prior to your arrival.
Visitors
Visitors are asked to contact the program organizer as well as the residence hall front desk upon arrival. A temporary name badge must be worn by all visitors.
Department of Public Safety personnel or other University staff may question the presence of anyone in a residence hall without identification. Visitors who have entered a residence hall without checking-in will be asked to leave. Young guests will not be released into the care of anyone who has not been pre-authorized or is a parent/guardian.
Resident, Staff and Visitor Identification
Summer residents are given lanyards both for identification and the safekeeping of their key cards. Longer term residents, including summer academic students are provided with M-cards as well. Young campers should always be escorted by a counselor or responsible adult with identification. Staff and persons affiliated with summer groups are asked to wear their lanyards with i.d. cards at all times.
Lost M-Cards
Lost M-cards will be replaced at a cost of $35.00. Although Conferences staff are happy to help you with any problems that you encounter during your stay, personalized M-cards can only be issued/replaced by an M-card office on campus.
Check-In
Check in generally occurs during the daytime hours. Conference Services prepares room keys and/or M-cards in advance of your check-in. Please make sure that you have provided an updated roster of your group prior to your arrival. Contact your Conference Services manager/coordinator and make us aware of your needs at check-in including dedicated space, tables, parking, etc. If you intend to arrive after 6pm, please make arrangements with us for your late arrival. Front desks are not generally open after 7pm. Check with us regarding your building’s specific front desk hours. |
